The primary objective of my tuition is to encourage you to feel at home with your camera and to help you to explore your creativity.
The more familiar you are with your equipment and its settings, the better the photographs you’re likely to take. This is typically true not only from a technical perspective, but also the more comfortable you become with your camera, the more relaxed you’ll be while taking shots, and better able to ‘capture the moment.’
The photography courses, organised for either individuals or small groups, are primarily aimed at:
Courses can be structured to meet individual needs, or to take you through a complete introductory course. Depending on your specific needs, this introductory course is usually broken down into modules, which would typically include:
There will normally be accompanying notes, ‘homework’ and ‘hands-on’ practical sessions.
As well as the options outlined above, I also offer both remote (web-based) and residential course options.
Course lessons can be arranged by online ‘remote access’ directly to your desktop should you so wish. This can be particularly helpful for photo-editing tuition. This offers the advantage of you working with the familiarity of your own computer and can accommodate relatively slow internet connections.
The courses normally run from mid-August until mid-October, on Royal Deeside. Ballater is the closest town to the Queen’s estate at Balmoral.
Format for 2 day day course (Saturday & Sunday): Arrive Friday night, leave Sunday pm. Cost for one, or two persons sharing: £1200 per person, meals and simple ensuite accommodation provided.
